From the day we step into this world till the day we are carried to our final destination, we come across many relations – some are to betray you, some to leave us all alone, for their own sake. But there is one relation who has no boundaries, no obligations and only unconditional love for their children that is “Mother”. Mother, this is not simply a word but it is a whole universe in itself. She is the most important person in everybody’s life. She is a person who have kept awake all night with their sick toddlers in their arms, constantly uttering those compassionate words, It’s ok beta, Mama’s here or she is a person whose job start early in the morning and finished only when her children are fast asleep in the bed or she is a person whose prayers are focused just on her child. Learning over Earning

The decision of International Labour Organioation (ILO) in 2002 to make June 12 every year as World Day against Child Labour ensures that the global community remains engaged and focused on abolishing child labour. ILO conventions 182 that effectively prohibits child labour, abuse and exploitation was unanimously adopted in 1999. But for India it took almost 19 years to ratify the ILO conventions that prohibit worst forms of child labour. If we talk about the new Act that is The Child and Adolescent (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2016, it puts a complete prohibition on employment of children, but at the same time it allows them to be employed in family enterprises/businesses. This new Amendment Act has also introduced the concept of ‘Adolescent Labour’ for the first time. An ‘adolescent’ has been defined as a person between the ages of 14-18 years. Laws alone cannot cure this “Moral Epidemic”

The ideals of a progressive and free India will never be realized as long as our children are unsafe. The Gang rape and murder of the eight-year old girl in Kathua had fumed a nation-wide anger, frustration and mass protest by people of all caste and communities. The incident was one of the most shocking and heinous acts in the country, which had distressed everyone and immediate call to hang the rapist was made by common masses. After continuous protest by the people, President Kovind on Sunday promulgated an ordinance, which was approved by Union Government, to pave way for providing stringent punishment, including death penalty for those convicted of raping girls below the age of 12 years. Now The Indian Penal Code (IPC), The Evidence Act, The code of Criminal Procedure (Cr.PC), and The Protection of Children from Sexual offences (POCSO) Act will stand amended. This amendment act stipulates stringent punishment for perpetrators of Rape. But it is no more a legislation problem.

Backbreaking bags

Every morning, I watch school children walking to school weighed down by heavy school bags. Bag seems to be bigger and heavier than their bodies. And when I asked this question to my cousin, who has been studying in class 6th, that why her bag is too heavy,she replied,” We have to carry eight books and eleven notebooks each day to the school.And we don’t bring anything extra.If we do not carry all these books and notebooks to school, the teacher will scold us”.Now here the question arises what is the necessity to bring all these notebooks and books daily to the school.And the answer is clear, because there is not any clear timetable of what to bring to school, on which day.And one more reason is, most of the schools feel that the heavier the bag, the greater the teaching would be.But the parents of these children are not aware on how those heavy weight of school bag has been affecting the health of their children.They are unaware of this fact, that these heavy backbreaking school
